AHHH Cronenberg is directing a DeLillo-adaption!

This looks just as crazy as it should be. Robert Pattinson is going to be a good Packer. I’ll see you at the theater for limo-sex, rat parades, and voice-activated pistols!

Paul Giamatti comment on Cosmopolis winning the MTV Movie Brawl.

Cosmopolis beat Hunger Games. I don’t quite understand this MTV world but I’m starting to enjoy it more.

Maybe this will be a gateway into a bizarre new generation fanbase for DeLillo’s work. I doubt it. But the concept would make a good story. I should write it. Imagine any author with a good body of work but isn’t “famous” gets one of his/her novels made into a movie that casts a celebrity with a rabid fanbase. Then they just go wild over the authors whole body of work. It would get bizarre.

“No,” George said.
I can’t believe Don DeLillo’s Underworld was so successful a movie adaptation that they ended up making 3/4(?) sequels.
I’ve never seen the movies though. How faithful are they to the book?

benningtonstudents:

Proof that Bennington students really do love their classes: I got an email from one of my professors on Monday saying he was sick and didn’t know if he could make it to class on Wednesday. For the next two days, I kept praying he could because currently we are reading White Noise by Don DeLillo, one of my favorite novels of all time. The fact that I get to discuss it in a class is beyond exciting to me. This morning I got the fateful email saying that, yes, class had indeed been cancelled. However despite this, a few of us in the class got up, ate breakfast together, and talked about the book. It was a spirited conversation. Additionally, last night a friend of mine in the class came over to my house’s common room and we worked on our papers together, freaking out about how awesome this book is.

Different editions of White Noise, from top left to bottom left clockwise:
-Penguin, 2006, paperback
-Penguin 25th Anniversary, 2010, paperback (this is the one I have)
-Penguin Great Books of the 20th Century, 1999, paperback
-Viking, 1985, hardcover

-India K, ‘12

I’m jealous of this post.

And of these different cover art variations. I have #1. I will soon have #2. I also have the version with the the “Plus Notes” that includes essays and reviews. Must re-read! Must re-read!

trustyoureditor:

Don DeLillo via The New Yorker.
NB: Take note of the publication date. Apparently Martin Amis submits from his time machine.
NB 2: The Angel Esmeralda is a must read. No question. DeLillo for life.
